Editorial Guidelines
Editorial Guidelines & Ethics
ScienceLoop publishes science, technology, and AI news for curious general readers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and beyond. Our goal is simple: to report accurately, explain clearly, and earn your trust. These guidelines describe the standards every piece of ScienceLoop journalism is held to, and they apply to all content bylined “ScienceLoop Editorial.”
Sourcing Standards
We build our reporting on the strongest available evidence. Wherever possible we go to primary sources: peer-reviewed papers in established journals, official datasets, preprints (clearly labeled as not yet peer-reviewed), regulatory filings, court documents, and direct statements from researchers and institutions. When we rely on secondary reporting, we cite reputable, independent outlets and link to the original material so readers can verify it themselves.
We treat single-study findings with caution, note sample sizes and limitations, and seek independent expert perspective on contested or surprising claims. Press releases and company announcements are identified as such and are never presented as settled fact.
Accuracy & Fact-Checking
Every article is checked for factual accuracy before publication. We verify names, figures, dates, quotations, and the central claims of a story against their original sources. Statistics are traced back to the data they come from, and scientific results are described in terms a general reader can understand without distortion. If a claim cannot be substantiated, it does not run. We aim to distinguish clearly between established findings, emerging evidence, and informed speculation.
Corrections Policy
We will make mistakes, and when we do we correct them openly. Substantive errors are fixed promptly and accompanied by a dated correction note explaining what changed. Minor typographical fixes may be made without a note. We do not silently delete or rewrite published reporting to hide errors. To report a possible error, email editor@scienceloop.news with the article title and the specific detail in question; we review every message.
News vs. Sponsored Content
Our editorial coverage is independent of any advertiser, sponsor, or commercial partner. Advertising is clearly distinguished from journalism. Any sponsored, paid, or affiliate content is explicitly labeled (for example, “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership”) so it can never be confused with our independent reporting. Advertisers have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it, and they receive no advance access to editorial content.
AI Assistance & Human Oversight
ScienceLoop articles are researched and written with the assistance of AI tools under human editorial oversight. We use AI to help gather background, draft, and summarize. We do not treat AI output as authoritative. A human editor is responsible for every published article: verifying sources, checking facts and quotations against original material, correcting errors and AI-generated inaccuracies, ensuring fair framing, and approving the final text. Accountability for what we publish rests with our editorial team, not with any automated tool.
Independence
We report without fear or favor. Editorial decisions are made on news value and public interest alone, free from the influence of advertisers, political interests, or the companies and institutions we cover. Where a story touches on a potential conflict of interest, we disclose it.
How to Flag an Issue
Reader feedback makes our journalism better. If you spot an error, a sourcing problem, a labeling concern, or anything that seems unfair, contact us at editor@scienceloop.news. Please include the article title or link and a clear description of the issue. We read and respond to credible concerns and will correct the record where warranted.
